Eatstudent.co.uk Job Opportunities at Birmingham University!

We are currently looking to expand our network of restaurants serving universities across the country. We're looking for student partners to help us sell the service to local restaurants. It's a great, easy job. You can find out all details about the job on this page. We are looking for sales people at Birmingham University to sell to our restaurants in the Birmingham student areas. We look forward to hearing from you!

Who we are?

Eatstudent.co.uk is a company that offers university students the ability to order food online from their favourite local takeaway restaurants. We are currently expanding our operations and are looking for ambitious and talented students to help recruit restaurants in various university towns throughout the UK, including Birmingham.

What’s the job?

The job is to approach local takeaway restaurants, explain to them the concept and the system, and sign them up to the service. You will be responsible for organising meetings with the managers of the restaurants and in charge of your own timetable. We will agree with you beforehand which restaurants should be approached, although we're always open to suggestions! The job really is very simple: most of the restaurant owners you meet will be very keen to sign up to the system, and it really is a very easy sell (at our previous university sites, we have an 80% sales success rate). It is important that you will be expected to conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times, particularly by always being punctual and displaying a friendly & courteous attitude. If you impress there will also be a chance for future part-time marketing jobs, such as manning our stall at Freshers' Fair.

What’s the time frame?

This particular job is for the summer months, starting around the 10th August. All restaurant recruitment must be complete by the beginning of September, ready for the start of the academic year. The work is extremely flexible and can be easily fit around other commitments.

Who you are?

You are an ambitious university student (or recent graduate) at university. You should be confident in your ability to conduct face to face sales. You should have accommodation near your particular university during the summer months and a car would probably prove helpful, though is not necessary. You should be familiar with local takeaway restaurants used by students. Our chosen sales people will not only be able to make some easy money but will also gain valuable sales & CV experience.

What’s the pay?

As we are offering our sales people the opportunity to work in their own time we have structured the payment on a sales target basis. That is to say that sales people will be paid a flat hourly rate (of at least NMW) and then more depending on the number of restaurants signed up. Based on past experience and estimated time necessary to sign up restaurants the payment we are offering should be equivalent to more than twice the national minimum wage. Furthermore there will be various performance related bonuses on offer. From our past experience, we expect most of our sales people to earn several hundred pounds for about 2 or 3 weeks of occasional work.

What about opportunities in the future?

For those people who impress and are keen for further work, there will certainly be the opportunity to become our company representative at your university throughout the academic year (especially during Freshers' Fair!). Furthermore, as the company grows we will be looking to create full time marketing and sales roles for graduates, on competitive salaries.

How do I apply?

Please send your CV and a short cover letter explaining any relevant experience and why you think you would be suitable for the role to info@eatstudent.com. All applications must be submitted by Monday 2nd August, and there will be a short interview in Birmingham during the week commencing Monday 2nd August.
